Is my tree protected?

Your tree can be protected if it is covered by a Tree Preservation Order or is situated within a Conservation Area.

A tree preservation order is an order made by the Council which in general makes it an offence to cut down, top, lop, uproot, willfully damage or willfully destroy a tree without the planning authority’s permission.

Any tree works can be applied for by completing the relevant application form, specifying the trees, what you want to do and why. These forms can be downloaded here:
